God save WHO?

Vice-president Joe Biden just ended the last congressional session before President-elect Trump takes office.

As he signed off and closed the book, he was heard to say audibly: “God save the Queen.”

I don’t think he was worrying about Brexit.

I notice he didn’t mumble anything about keeping calm either.  Sounds like good advice to me.

Though I’m tempted to supplement it:

  1. I missed that comment, and the US press haven’t mentioned it. But ya gotta love Joe Biden, he is so real and uncensored… So going to miss him and President Obama.

And yes, agreed — we need to stay vigilant!! We are starting into a scary, depressing time in the US.

    Happy New year to all!

  2. Oh, thank you for posting the link!! (I was searching through C-Span, but gave up).

I think it will definitely be an interesting year– it’s hard to go even one day reading a newspaper or a news site without reacting in dismay/surprise/horror, etc– and the transition is just starting.

But it has made for some interesting conversations with a few loved ones who are Trumpsters, even here in deeply blue Democratic New York.

    Never a dull moment…

    • Speaking of dull moments — I’ve just heard from a friend in NYC that Hillary Clinton is exploring the possibility of running for NY mayor. That would make her mayor of the constituency including Trump Tower.

But I don’t think you and I are the only ones who are going to in for surprises. My own prediction is that Trump is not going to have as easy a run of things as he might think. Whether it’s in repealing Obamacare, creating jobs for the unemployed Trumpsters who voted for him, or in dealing with Putin. That might be his biggest surprise.

  3. Yes!! Mayor Hillary Clinton, we can only hope…she would make such an excellent mayor. And at least according to the NY Times, NYC’s election laws are surprisingly relaxed about residency requirements for mayoral candidates, so it actually is possible.

HRC would be current Mayor Bill DeBlasio’s worst nightmare, so the political dogfight to get the nomination would be something to see. But she undoubtedly would be wonderful for NYC.
