The Other I

Back where I want to be

Filed under: Just Stuff — theotheri @ 4:42 pm

About once a year since I started this blog, I’ve stopped and asked myself why I keep doing it.

I think I can stop asking.

I do it because it helps me think.  I realize this may not be unrelentingly evident from every post I’ve put up here, but during these last two weeks when sheer courtesy kept me from blogging, I realized how it has clarified my thinking.  It is similar to teaching.  I don’t write about every thought I have, but I find myself making sure I understand what I’m reading or discussing well enough so that I could translate it into coherent sentences if I tried.

I’ve missed coming here and putting together at least one mini-thought per day.  I do hope someone is still out there at the other end, because, of course,  readers – especially those with opinions and points of view, clarifications, confirmations, encouragement and well wishes are an essential partners in the process.

So if you are reading this – thank you.

I’ve missed you.

I really have.

  1. Welcome back!

    • Thank you for the welcome. I’m looking forward to continuing our exchanges. I’ve even started brushing up on Kant & Mill & Hume – whom I’ve not looked at for decades. (That’s about 50% your doing, you know. The revisiting, I mean, not the decades of not looking.) Terry

    • Thank you so much, Donna! I was hoping you were still here. I’m going to the States at the end of the month for ten days, too. (Hope it still feels like a vacation by the time I return.) Terry
